Interior decoration
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Interior decoration or decor is the art of decorating a room so that it is attractive, easy to use, and functions well with the existing architecture. The goal of interior decoration is to provide a certain “feel” for the room; it encompasses applying wallpaper, painting walls and other surfaces, choosing furniture and fittings, such as light fixtures, floorplans and providing other decorations for the area such as paintings, sculptures and carpets. In some cases, interior decorating is performed professionally by certified interior decorators (C.I.D)Although the terms interior decorating and interior design are sometimes used interchangeably, each discipline exhibits a distinct difference in its scope. Interior decorating is generally focused on the selection and presentation of interior items within a space, such as furniture, accessories, finishes and room layout. Interior design, on the other hand, involves manipulating the architectural integrity of the interior space.
Home interior decoration is focused on finishing, such as wallpaper, window covering, furnishings and paint. Interior design is more integrated with the architecture, and in addition to home interior decoration involves cabinet making, room layout etc and host of other design parameters that go into making a home.

Colors are also undergoing a new preference today, towards earthly, natural and warm brown tones with compliments of rich colors and textures.
The whole objective of home interior decoration is to functionally improve the home and make it reflect your tastes and personality at the same time rendering it unique. A big challenge, nevertheless, undertaken by Interior Designers and Interior Decorators.
Getting Started
January 8, 2008 Web Adventures 1 CommentWow! I finally got this blog up and running. What a journey! It started out with just wanting a place on my portfolio site, where I could offer suggestions and give ideas for the “DIY” crowd. Maybe I could at least make the site self sufficient….with all the news talk about the tough times ahead with the recession looming I thought it might be a good idea to get some back up. Not just for me, but for others that share my passion for creative inspiration and the need to keep our home and our mind on solutions, not complaints. Now speaking of the DIY crowd, I’m a charter member, and way too much of a control freak to just hire someone to set all this up, and besides, it’s proving to be a whole lot fun! Come along for the ride, there’s a lot to learn out there…..
The first thing I discovered when I started my research was that the basic structure of my existing site was a mess! So I began the process of getting that in order(that’s quite a story in itself, I’ll save it for another day….lets just say, thank god, there are reputable people out there willing to offer help). Everything had its own learning curve, and each piece of the puzzle shot you off into another direction, and another, and…next thing you know…the dreaded…Information Overload!!!! Mama help me!
I’m still in recovery, but decided to go ahead and publish; maybe you the reader can help me stay on task and make this site a comfortable, safe, and inspiring place to be. Hope you enjoy the process of watching it grow, I’m open to suggestions and would love to associate with like minded individuals and groups.
